Lightmoves sponsor V8 Supercar at this years Bathurst 1000 at Mount Panorama.
For the second consecutive year Lightmoves Pty Ltd will sponsor the One World Sport Hotel's Ford AU entry in the world famous Bathurst 1000 V8 Supercar race, on the weekend of October 4-7 2001. This event to be held at Mt Panorama is the ultimate test of both man and machinery where most often, less than half the field of entries don't make it through to the finish of the 1000 kilometre race. In last year's race the One World Sport entry finished a very impressive 17th position overall. Not bad for a car that was almost brand new.
Andrew Sherar, Lightmoves Technical Director and long term petrol-head, was also the Race Engineer on this vehicle. It was Andrew's responsibility to extract the data from the cars onboard computer system. Fed by some 55 sensors, the computer provides critical information to the drivers and mechanics. This information is extremely useful in these endurance races to enable the team to analyse the data from the car whilst it is on the racetrack to determine a strategy that includes pitstops and driver changes. This year, Andrew will in fact be doing the Race Engineering on the number 88 car for Castrol Harris Racing during the actual event, but will be assisting car number 25 the One World Sport entry on both setup and data analysis during the weekend.
